Artist's Personal Branding Session Herne Bay, Kent

As a small business owner myself, it's easy to feel a connection with other creative small business owners who are looking to share something of their story and their craft in an authentic and personal way. I know how it feels to love what you do and to feel passionate about the art that you create. Alison Drewett is one of those people. Alison launched her business during lockdown and much to her delight, it has grown very quickly. While she has a background in illustration, Alison has recently found a love of collage and creates incredible pictures depicting local scenes of the north Kent coast. Alison is very proud of Herne Bay, where she lives with her young family, and her affection for the town shines through in the vibrancy and sensitivity of her work.

Alison has a beautiful new studio in her garden and was keen to have some fresh new images that would allow her to share where she works and the processes she uses to create her work.

A few weeks before her branding shoot, I visited Alison at her studio, to discuss ideas and talk about different ways we could photograph in the space. Alison wanted to be able to share images which show the different stages and processes she uses, to create each piece of artwork. We came up with a plan for her shoot and a shot list we’d work through on the day which would enable us to capture a variety of activities and scenes. Alison also needed some relaxed headshots to use for marketing - the aim was to capture her warm, friendly and fun personality. We discussed possible outfit choices and colours and Alison was very clear with me about what type of shots she likes and dislikes which was really helpful.

I absolutely loved spending the day with Alison, we laughed a lot in between taking photos and it was fascinating to see her at work. Alison was thrilled with the images from her shoot and now has a fabulous bank of images she can use across her social media platforms, and for new marketing materials and applications for exhibitions etc.

Check out Alison's beautiful work here and get in touch with her if you'd like to commission some unique work.

Alison's Feedback:

"Louisa was recommended to me by a mutual friend when I mentioned my plans to embark on a branding exercise for my new business. Louisa was attentive and easygoing and I immediately felt relaxed in her company. I told Louisa my story and between us we devised a plan of action. On the day of the shoot, Louisa went over and above. When the final shots arrived in my inbox I was extremely pleased with them. Louisa had exceeded my expectations and set the standard for my brand.
