The Everyday Storytellers - Week 3

📷 We are #theeverydaystorytellers - mothers who span across four different countries and have 22 children between us. We are all passionate, hard-working women with one common goal in mind. To document childhood.

This is week three. Our hope is to grow in our craft, inspire each other and preserve our children’s memories. Our goal is to document with intention, dedicating time each week to create a collection of images that tell the story of our everyday lives. The calm and the chaos. The beauty and the mess. The magic in the everyday details. The perfectly imperfect moments that weave together and make up our lives.

Okay, tell me, when the fair comes to your town, are your kids magnetically drawn to the least value, most plastic ’tat’ for your money on sideshows? My husband and I have the same conversation every year. Me to the kids: ‘Why don’t we take a walk around so you can see what’s on offer and decide which 3 rides you’d like to go on?’. Mike: ‘Lou, Annie really likes the look of these princess packs on the hook a duck stall, have you got £3 for her to play?’. £9 down after they’ve all won their prizes which will break in a matter of minutes, but you know what - they love them and they had fun winning them, and I’m reminded that I just need to chill out and not be a control freak. They really do love hooking a duck and to be fair, their bow and arrow kits and garish princess handbag set did keep them entertained for a good couple of hours while we fired up the BBQ and sat in the sun. So next year, I’ll just embrace the tat.
